presentations given by subject matter experts chosen for their specific
topical perspective.
Roundtable Panels: After the presentations are
concluded, the speakers involved in that session will join together with
representatives from the energy industry
vendor community for a free-flowing, one-hour panel discussion about
the overarching session topic. As part of that roundtable discussion,
audience members will be asked to participate in a Q&A portion.
SESSION ONE – Paying for Energy: Putting
the Financing in Place
The massive wave of federal spending on energy, the cornerstone of President Obama's fiscal stimulus efforts, is unprecedented, but it represents only a small down payment on the hundreds of billions of dollars that will have to be spent transforming a century old analog power system into a robust, interactive, digital energy architecture. What will be the new business models? How will it be paid for?
9:00 - 10:15 am
Session One Panel A:
The View from Wall Street Investors are on the sidelines as the financial sector recovers from one of the most harrowing plunges in decades. The financial sector awaits a new era of rules and regulations. They realize that the energy economy is ready to be rebuilt on a scale never seen before. Where are they most interested in placing their bets? What risks are they prepared to shoulder — and which ones will they shun? We will take a look at how the relationship between the financial community and utilities is headed.

SESSION TWO – Powering Energy: Keeping the
Lights On
Our energy appetite will increase, particularly when economic growth resumes. But it seems like only renewable power sources have been growing lately.. Count on this. Our energy mix will change. Precisely how —
that is a question of substantial import to energy company strategists, policy makers and investors.
2:20 - 3:15 pm
Session Two Panel A:
Nuclear and Coal —
Will the Next Generation Ever Get Built? For years now, our energy regulators have been getting ready to streamline construction of a new generation of our nuclear fleet. Will their efforts meet the test? The great reliable —
king coal — now provides half of our power. Many are confident that the technologies and processes needed to capture and store forever carbon dioxide emissions will be available in short order. Is that realistic?
